“Legacy” is Right! Subaru @ CAS

Subaru’s legacy extends to more than just the reveal of their popular sedan of the same name at The Chicago Auto Show this year.  “Showing the Love” is part of the brand’s charitable arm and it was full force in February and yes it included puppies!

Media came to see the all-new 2020 Legacy sedan launch, and having been a Legacy driver myself, it piqued my interest.  30-years of refining a model’s ins-and-outs has resulted in one of the safest, most reliable vehicles in the shrinking sedan market.

The Legacy’s “Bold in Movement” design theme lures the eye into seeing the car “in-motion” even when at rest.  Frame-less grille and a lower grille intake accent its approach showing off the wider fenders and make choosing the perfect wheel package a must.

I admire this new design as it caters to the customer’s need for style and adds inches to a roomy cabin and quiet (3 dB sound reduction than in previous models) ride.  One of the things I really enjoyed about my Legacy was the roomy interior and ample leg-room both front and back for those 6 ft. and over. According to specs, the new 2020 Legacy proves to be even better.  Click here for a walk-around of the Legacy on YouTube.

An efficient and fun-to-drive, standard, 2.5L-liter BOXER engine pumps out 182 horsepower with a new turbocharged version offered at the XT trim level bumping up the horsepower to 260.  Arriving in fall 2019 at dealerships, available trim levels will be:  Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, Limited XT and Touring XT.

The Subaru Global Platform construction quiets the minds of the safety conscious consumer with the Legacy’s full inner frame construction, a first for Subaru. Unlike other brands, body panels are welded on only after the entire body frame is constructed.  It boasts a 40 percent higher impact absorption in front/side impact crashes due to the innovative design over other body-on-frame models.  Stiffer and lighter, this Legacy hugs the road and is ultra-responsive to the driver’s lead with a lower center of gravity.

Ample tech and safety features fall on this sedan like rain.  A SUBARU STARLINK infotainment system, based in an 11.5 inch tablet-like screen system, graces the console.  EyeSight Driver Assist Technology includes a Lane Centering Function when using the Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control feature of EyeSight and a bevy of other semi-autonomous assistance and mitigative features champion the Legacy.

Some of you may be saying to yourself…when will she start talking about the puppies?

Here you go…

“The Subaru Love Promise is just that.  A promise.  It is a promise to do right by our community by partnering with nonprofit education, health, community, environment and animal organizations – to set Subaru apart through our deeds and the deeds of our partners.  To be unlike any other car company by doing what is right and good, just for the sake of doing it.”

ALIVE Rescue and Hopeful Tails Animal Rescue teamed up for the Chicago Auto Show pet adoption event with Subaru. Puppies and dogs were available for adoption and if one already had a furry friend at home, making a rope toy for a shelter pet or for your own buddy was available.  A customized dog tag thrilled owners and pooches via the Subaru Loves Pets engraver.

Midwest Automotive Media Association‘s Family Vehicle of the Year, the 2019 Subaru Ascent, was the perfect canvas to display the “love” as well.  The 7-8 passenger family SUV is built in Lafayette, IN and has the same classic BOXER engine giving 260 horsepower to those fun-havers in tow.

Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Subaru of America, Inc., said it best, “At Subaru, we are always keeping an eye out for new and unique opportunities to positively impact our furry friends and help them find forever homes.  We’re passionate about returning the unconditional love pets show us every day and partnering with such organizations as ALIVE Rescue and Hopeful Tails Animal Rescue to help keep all animals, especially those in shelters, happy, healthy and safe.”

After 86 consecutive months of yearly, month-over-month growth, Subaru continues to hit a sweet spot in every category through great marketing campaigns and production of the safest, long-lasting vehicles available.

Its a legacy for sure…
